Thanks to those who were able to attend the Idaho Society for Respiratory Care Hill Day! It was a great event! We had students from Idaho State and Boise State Respiratory Care programs, as well as respiratory care practitioners from across the state! We learned about the legislative process from our wonderful lobbyist, Nate Fisher and then met with the Lieutenant Governor, Scott Bedke. He spoke with the group about the legislative process and shared his thoughts about our upcoming Compact Licensure Legislation.
So why were we at the Capitol? Well, the ISRC is working on launching compact licensure for respiratory care practitioners across the United States. We hope that Idaho will join the compact allowing respiratory care practitioners to opt in or out to the compact, increasing the portability of respiratory care licensure. Senator Janie Ward-Engelking will be sponsoring the legislation in the Senate. The bill is currently in the RS “routing slip” stage in the Idaho Senate. You can learn more about compact licensure at the links below!
